“When I was elected, I pledged to cut red tape and bureaucracy – to make the Department of Insurance more accountable and more responsive to the needs of our citizens. We’ve done that and will continue to do so because the taxpayers deserve it. I’ve also worked diligently to support a free and fair marketplace. These actions have made the NC DOI better and I’d be proud to keep fighting for you as your commissioner.”

- Mike Causey

Mike Causey cares about your home and family!

He will continue working with first responders to ensure our citizens have EMS and fire services that meet the needs of every community in our state.

Faster Response Ratings

  • Eliminated the backlog of ISO (Insurance Services Office) fire department inspections in his first two years.
  • Increased responsiveness ratings at most of the state’s more than 1,300 fire departments
  • Faster response times directly affect property insurance rates and save lives

Fentanyl Crisis

  • Continue the attack on fentanyl poisoning by partnering with the Insurance Industry to help families get critical rehabilitation and mental health services – before it’s too late.

Public Safety and Safer Roadways

  • Work with our Governor and State Legislature to advocate for more State Troopers to help patrol our roadways and enforce traffic laws.
  • Catching distracted drivers saves lives and helps keep our automobile insurance rates as low as possible.

Prior Authorization

  • Keep holding the healthcare insurance industry accountable regarding prior authorization. All too often, patients are unfairly denied the procedures, care, and medicine they need. That’s not right!

Drug Take-back Events

  • Continue partnering with the Attorney General, the State Bureau of Investigation, and local law enforcement on holding drug take-back events to help citizens properly dispose of unused prescription medications.
  • Proper disposal of medications keeps them out of our rivers and streams, out of the hands of addicts and most importantly – away of from our children

Since Mike Causey took office, he has expanded the Fraud Control Group and seen very tangible results!

Mike Causey’s efforts have saved North Carolinians more than $200 million in fraudulent claims and criminal activity under his watch. By tripling the number of agents investigating fraud he has helped bring in more than $900 million to the state’s general fund since taking office in 2017.
